Please join us for Sunday worship at 920 W. Wilson @ 10 a.m.
Jesus People USA is part of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Jesus People Evangelical Covenant Church is located in Chicago in a neighborhood known for its diversity. In an area that encompasses Wrigley Field, the Lake Michigan lakefront, and the CTA Red Line over 40 languages can be heard spoken. Between trendy restaurants and nightclubs that feature the latest acts there are pockets of poverty. The homeless sleep on warehouse docks. JPUSA has been here for going on four decades, establishing homeless shelters, feeding programs, and various other outreaches. The new Wilson Abbey is the next step in reaching out with relevant programming.
Church services also reflect a cultural diversity, allowing participants to glimpse a Kingdom of God rich and big enough for all. Services are somewhat traditional beginning with a time of worship, followed by announcements and prayer. Sermons can sometimes follow a church calendar or a line of biblical study. Our pastors are all ordained by the Evangelical Covenant Church. Communion is offered the first Sunday of every month, while baptism and infant dedication are upon request. One need not be a member of JPUSA or live within the community to attend church services. Threaded through the approximately 70 minutes is a personalism born of living in community. Often the pastor delivering the sermon will call upon the congregation for feedback or to talk amongst themselves in a small group.
Afterwards the fellowship may continue over a lunch prepared by the JPUSA kitchen. Feel free to join us either in the dining room or outside around tables set up in the garden/sideyard.
